Week 3 Question

When was a time God brought you through something and how did you lean into Him during it?

I think I will mention my most current. It is kind of cool because I am in a time in life where I am trying to see where God wants me, and what His calling is for my life. So as I am still walking through this circumstance, I am not out of it yet.

And I am clinging to the Lord, praying for doors to open but also to close if there is somewhere He does not want me. I am also trying to be content with where I am now. So often I want to know my "next", but God may be working in me where I am at now.

My whole cancer journey has been the thing that has taught me how to trust God. The first time I was diagnosed in 2009 my girls were 9 and 6 years old. Not being able to promise them I would live through it was what made me realize that my sense of being in control was entirely a false sense of security. I could never really promise them that. I learned that my security is in the Lord. God is faithful to give me strength to get through what comes; and even when I am too weak to hold onto Him, He is always holding onto me. I have since been had the cancer come back 3 times. That lesson has never left me. By leaning into Him through it all, I KNOW that He is the anchor to my soul. He is the source of real hope, peace, and love. If I live, I get longer to be with my family; if I die, I go to be with the Lord.
“I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore, my heart is glad, and my tongue rejoices. My body will also rest secure.”
Ps. 16:8, 9

I just recently was removed from a situation where I was made to feel worthless and uncared for. I struggled for a year and a half in a friendship that seemed okay publicly but was being torn apart when nobody was around. I was so unsafe and I felt so unloved.

I held onto the fact that the Lord loved me more than I could ever imagine and that this hurt compared nothing to the joy that was coming. I’m still healing but know now what Love is and it is so much more than what I was being told. I leaned into the simple phrase on my favorite crewneck, “Strong and Courageous” and reminded myself that God has not forsaken me.
